Tales from the Crypt
Now I always knew the monument in Fort Greene Park commemorated the Prison Ship Martyrs of the Revolutionary War, what I didn’t fully realize is that there is a crypt below the park where the remains of 8,000 people are kept. Maybe I knew in the back of my mind but didn’t really comprehend how many were in there (8,000 seems like a lot). Anyway the crypt will be opened as part of the centennial celebration of the current monument in November.

I can’t wait for this to be finished… they have been “working” on it forever! It’s too bad the celebration is in November when it’s going to be cold. But I guess you can’t argue with when the actual centennial is?
